Local Board Offices

General News | 10/01/2010

Work is underway fitting out meeting rooms and offices for the new Local Boards which are part of the new Auckland Council.

Pictured are Andrew Anderton and Roger Marshman from contactors Mainzeal, who are working on the Whau Local Board office in New Lynn. The office will be at 31 Totara Ave.

As well as being the venue for regular Local Board meetings, residents will be able to make inquiries about the Council, request information about services and leave payments for rates and other activities.

Out west other Local Board offices will be at: GlenMall Place, Glen Eden (the Waitakere Ranges Local Board) and at the existing Waitakere City Council offices in Henderson Valley Rd (Henderson-Massey Local Board).

Local Boards will play a very important part in their communities and will be responsible for all decisions on local matters of a non-regulatory nature.

Among other things, Local Boards will decide on the location and design of new libraries and any upgrades to existing facilities, the opening hours, fees and charges at facilities such as community centres, decisions on local parks, the restoration and beautification of waterways, providing operational grants to local groups, and the upgrading of town centres.
